Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York and Tavarone, Rovelli, Salim & Miani in Buenos Aires have helped local company MSU Energy issue notes worth US$600 million.
The joint bookrunners relied on Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York and Bruchou, Fernández Madero & Lombardi in Buenos Aires. Bruchou also helped the local placement agents. The trustee, Citibank, hired Tanoira Cassagne Abogados in Buenos Aires and is thought to also have enlisted Alston & Bird LLP in New York.
The deal, which was made through MSU’s three subsidiaries, closed on 1 February.
The proceeds will be used to improve the operational capacity of three thermal plants located in the province of Buenos Aires and the central province of Córdoba. MSU obtained a US$230 million credit line in June last year to construct these plants. They currently have a combined installed capacity of 450 megawatts.
